Raymond S. Henderson

Raymond S. Henderson, 82, of Waynesburg, formerly of Rices Landing, passed away Wednesday evening, September 26, 2018, in Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

He was born October 5, 1935, in Spraggs, a son of the late Lloyd R. Henderson and Lydia H. Spragg Henderson.

Mr. Henderson was a 1954 graduate of Mapletown High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, having retired as master sergeant with over 20 years of service.

After his military service, he worked for Newcomers Trucking of McKees Rocks as a truck driver, retiring after 20 years of dedication. Mr. Henderson was a member of American Legion Post 916, Rices Landing.

On September 12, 1977, he married Mildred “Millie” Kiger Henderson, who died December 29, 2011.

Surviving are a daughter, Sherry J. Henderson of Marquette, Mich.; two stepsons, John R. Michael and wife Kim of Merritt Island, Fla., and Jerry L. Michael and wife Detra of Dilliner; four grandchildren, John Michael, Douglas Michael, Jodi Shoemaker and Jennifer Michael; six great-grandchildren, Garett Michael, Abbie Shoemaker, Bess Shoemaker, Harlow Michael, Zoey Michael and Stella Michael; brother Allen Henderson and wife Connie of Waynesburg; nephew James D. Henderson; and several other nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his second wife, are his first wife, Shirley Henderson, and a daughter, Brenda A. Henderson.

Family and friends are welcome from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, September 28, in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, where services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Parker officiating.

Interment will follow in Garards Fort Cemetery with full military rites accorded by the U.S. Air Force.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Disabled American Veterans.
