Gas released from an EQT well pad Wednesday afternoon did not require an evacuation, according to North Strabane Township Fire Department.

A message on the township’s Facebook page indicated the unexpected gas release occurred off Munce Road.

The state Department of Environmental Protection and local emergency services were notified and determined that residential evacuation was not necessary.

Several gas detection monitors that have been installed detected that gas levels remain at a safe limit.

No one was injured in the incident, according to the Facebook post.

EQT dispatched well control specialists to evaluate the situation. In addition, EQT will continue monitoring gas levels at nearby homes.

Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to contact Stephanie A. Paluda, EQT Corporation local government & community affairs specialist at 412-480-1228.
