Woman charged: Borough police charged Kristina Metz, 29, of Euclid Avenue on Wednesday with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, drug possession and possessing drug paraphernalia. Police said they found two Percocets in her purse during a traffic stop of a vehicle she’d been riding in on Euclid Avenue on Jan. 24. While she was in custody at the police station, a female officer searched her and reportedly found a pill bottle containing four Oxycodone tablets in her underwear. Charges were filed at District Judge David Mark’s office.

Theft charge: State police charged James W. Gaito, 31, of Washington with theft and access device fraud Thursday in connection with a report dating to March 28. The alleged victim reported Gaito had cashed a check written to himself for $250 from the man’s bank account a day before he reported the incident. Gaito was charged by summons from District Judge David Mark’s office.
Assault charges: State police charged two area men Thursday in connection with a fight that allegedly ensued during a dispute over ownership of a vehicle the night of Feb. 24. State police said John A. Work, 49, of Canton Township, punched Junior G. Curtis Jr., 33, of West Bethlehem Township, and tried to tackle Curtis before Curtis knocked down the older man, punched him repeatedly in the face and fled. Police said Work was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh with blood clots in his eyes, swelling and several cuts near one of his eyes. Work was charged with simple assault and harassment; Curtis, with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
Man charged: State police charged Joshua Sheppard, 37, of Amwell Township on Thursday with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct in connection with an alleged attack on another man early on Sept. 29 at Arch’s Country Saloon on Green Street. The alleged victim told police a man he didn’t know had hit him multiple times on the head with a beer bottle before taking off on a motorcycle. Police said a trooper identified Sheppard by talking to a bar employee. Charges were filed by summons from District Judge David Mark’s office.

Drug arrest: City police charged William J. Dugan, 53, of Rostraver Township with drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession, possessing drug paraphernalia and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence on Thursday. Dugan allegedly had a brick of heroin – 50 stamp bags – banded in bundles of 10 that fell from his groin area during a stop of a vehicle in which he’d been a passenger on Schoonmaker Avenue. He was taken to the Westmoreland County Jail following arraignment before Senior District Judge Jesse Cramer, who set bond at $35,000.
