Helen Garrison Thompson
Helen Garrison Thompson of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Pine Bank, died Monday, October 15, 2018, in Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange.
She was born in 1939 in Washington, a daughter of Guy Garrison and Mary Meighen Garrison.
Helen graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1956. On November 10, 1956, she married Allan Thompson in St. Ann Catholic Church, Waynesburg. In 2006, they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
The family moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., in 1970, when Allan was transferred with the Boy Scouts of America. Helen received her associate degree in nursing from Daytona Beach Community College in 1976.
Helen worked in Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, from 1970 until she retired in 1995. She worked in labor and delivery and the holding area of surgical services. She was known throughout the hospital for her IV skills.
Her hobbies included coloring, traveling, crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and following Tampa Bay Rays baseball.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jane Thompson of Port Orange; two sons, Robert Kirk Thompson, also of Port Orange, and William Guy Thompson and wife Michelle of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two granddaughters, Melissa Thompson of Gainesville, Fla., and Theresa Thompson of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Deceased are her husband, Allan Thompson, and two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Cooke and Margaret “Margie” Conner.

Interment will be in Meighen Cemetery, Pine Bank, at a later time.
