Pascoe, Belle Vernon run to win at West Mifflin

WEST MIFFLIN — Mason Pascoe rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns as Belle Vernon clinched at least second place in the Big Eight Conference and a first-round home playoff game by defeating West Mifflin 28-12 Friday night.

Pascoe scored on runs of four and six yards, the latter giving Belle Vernon (5-1, 6-1) a 21-6 lead in the third quarter.

West Mifflin (4-1, 4-4) closed to within 21-12 in the fourth quarter4 when parish Parker scored on a three-yard run. Belle Vernon, however, sealed the win on Larry Callaway’s five-yard TD run.

The Leopards opened the scoring with a one-yard plunge by quarterback Jared Hartman, who left the game with an injury.

West Mifflin quarterback Matt Shuster completed seven of 15 passes for 168 yards and a 16-yard TD to Bryant Johnson in the second quarter.
