Waynesburg Borough will hold clean-up days Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 18-20. Residents can take items to the street department property on First Street between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 7 a.m. and noon on Saturday. The borough will not accept electronics, including televisions and computers, paint, tires or hazardous materials. Items with Freon must be tagged indicating the Freon has been properly removed. The borough will pick up items at a resident’s home for $25 for half a truck load and $50 for a full truck load. For information or pick-up service, call the borough at 724-627-8111.
Downtown West Newton Inc.’s (DWNI) Annual Brew and Food Fest will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the West Newton Gym located at the corner of Fifth and Vine Street. There will be music by Shot of Soul, homemade food including pierogies, hot and sweet sausage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, and more. Tickets are $12 and include three drink tickets. Tickets can be purchased at Gary’s Chuck Wagon Restaurant and or at the door. This year’s participants include Bloom Brew, Sobel’s Obscure Brewery, Quinn Brewing, Stoney’s, Crooked Creek Distillery and Federal Distilling plus others. Proceeds help fund DWNI activities.
McFall Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at McDonald Presbyterian Church, 119 Station Street. The event will include homemade food, Treasure Chest Resale Shoppe, baked goods, pumpkins and mums for sale, an auction, craft and vendor sale, live music and a children’s fun area. The West Hills Symphonic Band opens their 52nd season with a “Side by Side” concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at South Fayette High School. For this free event, the SFHS Wind Ensemble will join the WHSB for the final two selections of the concert.
