West Greene overcomes slow start to topple Union
ROGERSVILLE — Kolin Walker and Gavin Scott scored second-quarter touchdowns Friday night and West Greene slogged its way past Union 20-6 in the nonconference regular-season finale.
Union (3-7), a school in New Castle, made its second trip to Greene County in three weeks and took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter when Michael Flowers scored on a three-yard run.
The Scotties, however, were blanked the rest of the way. West Greene (7-3), which finished in a three-way for the Tri-County South Conference title, took the lead with a pair of second-quarter touchdowns. Walker tied the score at 6-6 on a seven-yard TD run, and Scott raced 13 yards for the go-ahead score with 2:57 left before halftime.
Brock Bedilion sealed the win for West Greene with a four-yard TD run with 6:44 left in the game.
Walker led the Pioneers’ ground game with 78 yards on 20 carries. Union’s Tyrone Flowers completed 9 of 16 passes for 109 yards.
