John Roman, 92, of Brownsville, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018.
He was born June 29, 1926, in West Brownsville, a son of the late Andrew and Helen Roman.
In addition to his parents, deceased are his wife, Mary Adams Roman, and all three of his siblings, Christine, Charles and Mary.
John served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII with Patton’s Third Army 26th Division.
He worked in Vesta Five Mine and the prep plant. He belonged to United Mine Workers Local 762 and Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church in West Brownsville.
John also was a farmer all his life.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Darla Roman Vihlidal of Washington; son John D. Roman of Gainesville, Va.; son Andy M. Roman and Cissy of Brownsville; and granddaughter Alyssa A. Vihlidal of Washington.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Novak Funeral Home, 515 Front Street, Brownsville. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, in Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, West Brownsville, with the Very Rev. Stephan Gresh as celebrant. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, Brownsville. A Panachida service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
