84 to stuff a tiny home with toys
Building materials supplier 84 Lumber will hold a toy drive from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at their headquarters, 1019 Route 519, Eighty Four, between Buildings 1 and 2.
The public is invited to to help fill an entire 160-square-foot “Degsy” tiny house with unwrapped toys and gifts.
A tent will be located outside the tiny house with snacks and hot drinks for those who donate. Participants will also be entered into a drawing for tickets to an upcoming Penguins game.
The “Stuff the Degsy” event is being held in conjunction with 84’s Stuff-A-Bus sponsorship, a toy drive that attempts to stuff as many school buses as possible with donations for the Marine Toys for Tots program. The Degsy will be open for tours throughout the festivities, set to take place Nov. 26-29.
“We wanted to do something different this year to encourage more people to donate,” said Amy Smiley, 84 vice president of marketing. “When we decided that we would take the Degsy to Stuff-A-Bus, we thought, ‘Before we stuff the buses, we can stuff the tiny house.’ Anything extra we can do to support kids in need is a positive.”
The company is accepting only new and unwrapped toys at the “Stuff the Degsy” event. All donations will be transported to the Stuff-A-Bus headquarters outside of HomeGoods in Robinson.
