Jerome J. Brown Sr.
Jerome J. Brown Sr., 72, of Fredericktown, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 14, 2018, in his home, after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 22, 1946, in Brownsville, the oldest son of the late Elizabeth Kmetz Brown.
Jerome was a 1965 graduate of Beth-Center High School. Upon his graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army.
Mr. Brown was employed as a motorman in Beth Energy Mine 58 in Marianna for 15 years.
Jerome was a lifelong member of American Legion Post 391, Fredericktown, a member of the honor guard and a lifelong member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Fredericktown Campus.
His happiest moments were spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He enjoyed lounging on his porch and doing yardwork. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.
On April 11, 1966, he married his childhood sweetheart, Marjorie Pordash Brown, who survives.
Also surviving are their four loving children, Lori Zellie (Joe), Jerome J. Brown Jr., Sonny Brown (Amy) and Jodi Revi (David); 11 grandchildren, Lucas (Lacey), Peyton and Drake Zellie, Sophia Brown, Nico, Londyn, Carrington and Enzo Brown and Domonik, Santino and Elliana Revi; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Presleigh Zellie; four brothers, Michael Brown (Velda), David Brown (Avis), Robert Shaffer (Toots) and Dale Brown (Marilyn); a sister Monica Hustey (James); and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from noon to 6 p.m., the time of service, Friday, November 16, in Greenlee’s Fredericktown Funeral Home Ltd., 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, with the Rev. Donald Chortos officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 391, Fredericktown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jerome Brown family care of Greenlee Funeral Home.
