South Fayette rolls, sets up meeting with Belle Vernon

Andrew Franklin ran for 159 yards on just 9 carries and scored a touchdown to pace South Fayette to a 42-6 victory over Greensburg Salem in a WPIAL Class 4A first-round playoff game Friday night.
Jamie Diven threw three touchdowns passes and ran for another for the Lions (11-1). Ryan Kokoski caught two passes for 10 yards, both 5-yard TDs. Diven completed 8 of 14 passes for 63 yards and six runners amassed 224 yards.
Kokoski sparked the defense with a 55-yard interception return. Linebacker Joe Mowod had a team-high 8 tackles and defensive end Ben Coyne two QB sacks.
Greensburg Salem finished the season with a 4-7 record.
Belle Vernon 49, Beaver 11
Nolan Labuda rushed for 141 yards and had a hand in all seven touchdowns to lead Belle Vernon to a 49-11 victory over Beaver in a Class 4A first-round game.
Labuda scored on runs of 1, 2 and 5 and caught a 27-yard touchdown from Andrew Pacak for the third-seeded Leopards (9-1). Labuda also tossed a 38-yard touchdown to Anthony Bertram to open the scoring. Hunter Ruokonen caught two TD passes.
Beaver finished with a 7-4 record.
Jeannette 18, Monessen 14
Marcus Barnes and Emilio Huerta combined to put 10 points on the scoreboard in the third quarter and Jeannette’s defense made a late stop to stave off an upset bid by Monessen in an 18-14 victory in the first round of the WPIAL Class A playoffs.
Monessen led 8-0 atfer one quarter when Devin Whitlock scored the first of two touchdowns on a 1-yard run. Top-seeded Jeannette tied it in the second quarter when quarterback Seth Howard hit Jackson Pruitt with a 41-yard score. It stayed 8-8 into halftime.
Barnes caught a 6-yard TD from Howard and Huerta hit a 27-yard field goal to make it 18-8 heading into the fourth quarter.
Whitlock went over from 1 to cut the Jeannette (11-0) lead to 18-14 with 8:06.
Clairton 27, California 17
Brendan Parsons threw three touchdown passes, including two to Kenlein Ogletree, and Taevon Thompson returned an interception for the only score of the second half as second-seeded Clairton held off California 27-17 in a first-round playoff game at Elizabeth Forward.
California (6-5) had three costly turnovers – two fumbles inside the Clairton 10-yard line and Thompson’s 26-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter. The Trojans had leads of 7-0, 14-7 and 17-14, but Clairton (9-1) took the lead for good at 20-17 on a 65-yard TD pass from Parsons to Ogletree with 1:59 remaining in the first half.
