Violet M. Yukevich, 87, of Union City and Okechobee, Fla., formerly of Avella, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, in Golden LivingCenter South Hills.

She was born November 15, 1931, in Ironsburg, a daughter of the late Frank James and Girtrude Mae Herrington Nedley.

Violet was a graduate of Burgettstown High School and was a resident of Avella for 39 years until she moved to Union City and Okechobee.

She was a devout Christian and attended Church of God of Okechobee and Assemblies of God in Union City. She was also a former member of Avella Presbyterian Church.

Violet was an amazing artist who loved the beach, gardening, reading and quoting the Bible. She enjoyed the outdoors and walked five miles a day until she became ill.

On December 24, 1950, she married John Yukevich, who died February 17, 2008.

Surviving Mrs. Yukevich are two sons, John “Skip” (Joanne) Yukevich of Avella and Mark (Susan) Yukevich of Washington; a daughter, Eliecia Progar and Thomas Corkery of Meadow Lands; six grandchildren, Allyson Yukevich, Matthew (Joanna) Yukevich, Christopher Progar, Selina Progar, Bryan (Alexis) Corkery and Jamie (John) Mahramas; and three great-grandchildren, Sophia and Michael Mahramas and Reagan Corkery.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband of 57 years, are a granddaughter, Amy Yukevich; sisters Elizabeth Mayer, Ellen Gross, Jeanie Trosky, Virginia Colombo, Anna Mace, Margaret Lubowski and Lida Belle; and brothers James, Eaphriam and Paul Nedley.

Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until noon, the time of service, Saturday, December 1, in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, with Pastor Philip Amaismeier officiating. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery, Avella.
