CANONSBURG
Scam reported: An elderly Canonsburg man told Canonsburg police Tuesday he received a call from a man who spoke with an accent and said if he did not give him money, the elderly man would be killed. Police told the victim it was a scam and to contact them if the calls continued.
Bench warrant arrest: Alisa McGant, 48, of Canonsburg, was taken into custody Tuesday on five active bench warrants after she was spotted by borough police riding her bicycle in the 600 block of West Pike Street. She was placed in Washington County jail on the warrants.
Vehicle catches fire: John Lazear of 423 W. College St., Canonsburg, had to be rescued from inside his burning vehicle by Canonsburg police Sunday. Police were called by a passerby to the 500 block of Giffin Avenue. When they arrived, they found the vehicle filled with smoke and the engine revving. They said Lazear was passed out inside of it. An officer used a tool to break windows and get Lazear out. Lazear told police he had been having problems with the vehicle’s accelerator sticking. He refused treatment at the scene.
Windows broken: Gary McCartney told Canonsburg police Saturday three windows were broken on his girlfriend’s vehicle while it was parked behind his apartment at 14 E. Water St.
Equipment stolen: A representative of A&S Landscaping, Route 19, North Strabane, told Canonsburg police Friday chainsaws and a leaf blower were stolen from a company truck while it was parked at the borough’s midtown lot on West Pike Street.
CANTON
Criminal mischief: A West Wylie Avenue resident told state police five holes were poked in the side of an above-ground pool between 6 and 10 p.m. Monday, state police said.
CHARLEROI
Dog abuse alleged: Christine M. Loughlin, 50, of 118 Luella Ave., Charleroi, is charged by a humane police officer with aggravated cruelty to an animal over allegations she denied food and water to a dog left in a crate in her backyard. The complaint was filed Sept. 14. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charge Monday in a summons.
Drug charges: George James Kusaj, 19, of 501 Eighth St., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with crack possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended or revoked license stemming from a traffic stop about 1:20 a.m. Sunday at Fourth Street and Fallowfield Avenue, court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charges Monday in a summons.
MONESSEN
Theft alleged: Carly A. Shaw, 39, of 409 Fifth St., Charleroi, is charged by city police with identity theft, forgery, access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property, court records show. Police accuse her of opening three credit lines last year in the name of her former roommate, Carmen Grogan, and using them to make nearly $1,000 in purchases. The charges, stemming from an April 9 complaint, were issued Friday from a district court in Monessen.
Theft case: Todd Houseman, 42, of 416 Knox Ave., Monessen, is charged by city police with theft, receiving stolen property and trespassing, court records show. Police accuse Houseman of stealing copper valued at $2,283 from his former employer, Alumisource, 1145 Donner Ave., about 11 a.m. Oct. 22. The charges were sent in a summons Monday from a district court in Monessen.
Assault alleged: Tashayla M. Johnson, 30, of 207 Park Manor Drive, Monessen, is charged by city police with simple assault and harassment over allegations she struck Janae Michaux several times in the head about 10:15 p.m. Oct. 20 outside of 100 Park Manor Drive, court records show. The charges were issued Tuesday in a summons from a district court in Monessen.
Man wanted: Vincent Ambrosy-Wagner, 27, of 401 Woodard Ave., Fallowfield Township, is charged by city police with solicitation to forgery over allegations he asked Hilltop fire Capt. Daniel Sinsley to sign a letter about 11:50 p.m. Oct. 17 indicating Ambrosy-Wagner had performed community service to satisfy his probation requirements, court records show. A senior district judge in Monessen signed a warrant Monday for the suspect’s arrest.
ROSTRAVER
Man charged: Ryan Michael Reeves, 35, of 502 Arthur Ave., Roscoe, is charged by township police with depositing trash on a street and driving without a license after he was turned in about 8:15 a.m. Sept. 21 for allegedly dumping refuse on the shoulder of Lenity School Road. The charges were issued Friday in a summons from a district court in Monessen.
SOUTH STRABANE
Door stolen: A representative of Ameritrust Residential Services told South Strabane police Monday a garage door was stolen from outside a residence at 16 Panorama Drive. The door had been delivered last week.
WASHINGTON
Assaulted with gun: Benjamin Williams, 19, of Washington, was assaulted Tuesday night in the 300 block of South Main Street by an acquaintance who allegedly hit him near the eye with a gun, Washington police said. Williams was taken to Washington Hospital by a friend and then transferred to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. Police are continuing their investigation.
Driver robbed: Joshua King, 22, of Washington, told Washington police he was robbed Tuesday night while working as a Lyft driver in the area of Jollick Manor. He said a group of men wearing hooded shirts reached into his vehicle and stole his iPhone, $5, a filet knife and car keys before running off.
Harassment alleged: Ashley Fields, 30, of 486 Ewing St., Washington, was charged by Washington police with harassment and disorderly conduct after she reportedly got into a confrontation Tuesday with a 48-year-old woman at a residence at 850 Addison St. Police said she also had suspected marijuana.
Window broken: Sheila Baker told Washington police Tuesday the driver’s side window of her vehicle was broken while the vehicle was parked near her home in the 200 block of Linn Avenue.
