Cynthia Ann “Cindy” McCarrell, 64, of Washington, passed away peacefully Friday, November 2, 2018, in Washington Hospital, with family by her side.

She was born October 23, 1954, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Sidney Alexander and Florence Kohlmyer Davis.

A graduate of Upper St. Clair High School, she attained a bachelor’s degree at Edinboro University and a master’s degree from University of Pittsburgh.

Mrs. McCarrell was a devoted member of Church of the Covenant, Washington.

She was a dedicated teacher at Washington Park Elementary School. Throughout her 35 years as a teacher and IST coordinator, she touched the lives of countless students and faculty.

Cindy enjoyed playing golf and bridge with friends and family and spending her time outdoors. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On June 21, 1980, she married Wallace A. “Wally” McCarrell, who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Leslie A. (Eric) Zito of Arlington, Va., Andrew W. McCarrell of Washington and Michelle L. McCarrell of Washington; two sisters, Cheryl (John) Christopher of Boston, Mass., and Carolyn Davis of Pittsburgh; a grandson, Brooks Davis Zito; and cherished family and friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. An additional visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Tuesday, November 6, in Church of the Covenant, Washington, with the Rev. Stuart Broberg officiating.
