Nancy Jean Manderick
Nancy Jean Manderick, 86, of Bentleyville, formerly of Scenery Hill, passed away peacefully Monday, November 19, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington, following a brief illness.
Born November 1, 1932, in Wilkes Barre, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Rosa Augello Pentino.
Nancy was a 1950 graduate of Tridelphia High School in Wheeling, W.Va.
On January 5, 1953, in Newark, N.J., she married the love of her life, Emanuel Valentino Manderick. They were married 40 years, until his death November 21, 1993. She spent the last 25 years, almost to the day, waiting for their reunion.
Manny and Nancy raised seven children together, Patricia Reedy (James) of Bentleyville, Edmund Manderick (Barb) of Washington, Rose Carlson (Ed) of Washington, Charles Manderick (Julie) of Claysville, Bernadette Amos (Craig) of Bentleyville, Jeannette Amos (Lou) of Ellsworth and Genevieve Lynn “Jenny” Teagarden (Tom) of Washington. They had 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren together.
Also surviving are four stepchildren, Delores Humphrey of Flushing, Ohio, Emanuel Manderick Jr. of Topeka, Kan., Carl Manderick of Wichita, Kan., and Michael Manderick of McArthur, Ohio, and many stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Mom was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Norman and Eleanor Pentino.
Mom will be sadly missed by her close friends and her caretakers at Senior Life and Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare center.
During her early years of marriage, she helped her husband repair shoes in several shop locations they owned and operated, one located in New Jersey, where she was recognized in the local newspaper as being the first female shoe repairer in the area. Upon becoming “Mom,” she enjoyed singing, dancing, laughing, crafts, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting and spending time with family. She also made many wedding cakes and cookies and catered many parties and weddings. In addition, she always held a job as a cook, caretaker or housekeeper.
Mom devoted her life to her husband and family, but her moments of relaxation were devoted to “The Golden Girls,” old movies and music, especially Frank Sinatra and Italian music. She had a love for animals, as well.
Friends are welcome for visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 26, with Pastor Joe DiDonato officiating.
