Who to watch: Lions’ senior quarterback Jamie Diven is the fifth-leading passer in the WPIAL with 2,373 yards. Despite the stellar air attack, South Fayette also can beat you on the ground with senior RayQuin Glover (45 rushes for 343 yards and nine total touchdowns) and junior Andrew Franklin (105 carries for 591 yards and 11 total touchdowns). For the Leopards, junior Nolan Labuda had a monster game last Friday versus Beaver with 141 rushing yards and six touchdowns (three rushing, two passing and one receiving). Juniors Larry Callaway and Andrew Pacak are versatile pieces to the Belle Vernon attack. The game features two sensational kickers in South Fayette’s Ryan Coe, a Temple University commit, and Belle Vernon’s Cameron Guess, who is undecided on a college.
Noteworthy: This semifinal showdown could be a high-scoring one, as Belle Vernon averages 43.7 points per game and South Fayette scores at a 40.1 clip. … The squads have two common opponents this season in Beaver and Greensburg Salem. The Leopards beat Beaver last week, 49-11, and took a 48-14 win over Greensburg Salem in Week 5. The Lions defeated Beaver, 35-7, in Week 1 and have a pair of wins over Greensburg Salem, 51-28 in Week 3 and 42-6 last week. … South Fayette is 3-2 in the semifinal round since 2012, including a loss to Montour last season.
