Michael Raymond Kurtz, 65, of Jefferson, died Monday, November 12, 2018, in his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born September 9, 1953, in Franklin Township, Greene County, a son of the late Donald Raymond and Bernadette Mary Englert Kurtz.
Mr. Kurtz was a 1971 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School and attended Waynesburg College. He worked at Beth Energy’s Marianna Mine No. 58 for 17 years and then as a custodian for Waynesburg University for 28 years, until his retirement in 2016.
Mr. Kurtz was member of the former Jefferson Presbyterian Church, and he enjoyed golfing and the company of his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Amedisys Hospice provided Mr. Kurtz with wonderful care.
On September 14, 1974, he married Cindy D. Wells, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Bernadette J. Kurtz-Davis (Thomas Whitlatch III) of Waynesburg and Michelle R. Kurtz (Brenda) of Morgantown, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Michael and John; a sister, Debbie Schade (Charles) of Finleyville; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were private and under the direction of Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director.
