Seth Henry scored 15 points, Zach Howart had 14 and Carnegie Mellon pulled away in the second half for a 75-54 victory over Washington & Jefferson in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Henry Memorial Center.

CMU (4-6) has won three of its last four. The Tartans led 31-24 at halftime, then put up 44 points in the second half, shooting a blistering 59 percent from the field after the intermission. CMU also won big in the rebounding department, holding a 45-25 edge.

Cameron Seeman had a team-high 14 points for W&J (5-6) and Nicholas Campalong scored 12. The Presidents had their three-game winning streak snapped.

Penn State Behrend 78, Waynesburg 44: Penn State Behrend held visiting Waynesburg to only 15 points in the first half and the Lions cruised to a 78-44 victory in a nonconference game.

Behrend improved its record to 8-1 and has won five in a row. Waynesburg slipped to 3-7.

The game was tied 4-4 when Behrend went on a 20-0 run and forged a 31-point lead (46-15) at halftime.

Justin Gorny scored a game-high 17 points for Behrend and Andy Niland had 12.

Shane Johnson was the only player to score in double figures for Waynesburg. He finished with 12 points.

Women’s result

Hiram 83, Waynesburg 72: Waynesburg fell behind by 18 points at halftime and was unable to recover in an 83-72 loss to host Hiram in a nonconference game.

Paris Thompson led three players in double figures for Hiram with 19 points to go with nine rebounds. Tashauna Johnson scored 14 points and Madison Branch 13 for Hiram (6-5), which led 47-29 at halftime.

Andrea Orlosky had another big game for Waynesburg, scoring a game-high 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds. The Yellow Jackets put four players in double figures. Haley Porter had 15 points, Brooke Fuller 13 and Erin Joyce 10.
