Evelyn F. Newman, 94, of Carmichaels, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at an assisted living facility in Verona.

Evelyn was a retired math teacher for Carmichaels Area School District.

Until the last few years, she enjoyed traveling, playing golf, riding motorcycles, boating, playing chess and spending time with her husband and family. She will be remembered by all who knew her as an honest, friendly, caring and cheerful person.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Earl, whom she married in 1945; her son, Barry (Diane) of Monroeville; her granddaughter, Leslie of Plum Borough; her grandson, Bryan (Nicole); and great-grandchildren, Alex and Charlie of Plum Borough. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, primarily in Illinois, California and Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene, Grace and Loretta and brothers, Edwin, Arthur and Joseph, all of whom lived in Illinois.

There will be no public viewing. A private ceremony was held for the immediate family December 15. Entombment took place at the mausoleum in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
