Wilma A. Phillips, 97, formerly of Carmichaels, passed away unexpectedly at 5:10 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, in WHS-Greene, Waynesburg.

She was born October 9, 1921, in Meyersdale, a daughter of the late Henry Bramwell Brown and Ruth Parrish Brown Cosgrove.

Mrs. Phillips attended school in Bethlehem-Center School District, until her parents relocated. She was a former member of First Christian Church in Carmichaels.

In 1938, she married Arley L. Phillips, who passed away in 1983 after 45 years of marriage. The couple resided in South Carolina; the Cleveland, Ohio, suburbs; and, for most of their lives, the Carmichaels area.

She had worked as a manager for properties in the Cleveland area and in sales at S.A. Myers in Waynesburg and Abenader’s Store in Carmichaels. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Phillips worked at the Senior Center in Clarksville.

Mrs. Phillips enjoyed spending time with her family and reminiscing about the “old days.” She and her husband enjoyed singing with friends and family, and she also loved to read, especially biographies. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed helping others and was a friend to many. Most recently, she was happily content at Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for the past year. She received great care from the staff at Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation and ViaQuest Hospice.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet A. Faddis and husband John of Streetsboro, Ohio, and Linda C. Kovach and husband James of Clarksville; granddaughter Sharron Weingart; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer Wall (John), Allie Chilson (Mike), John Weingart (Lisa) and D. J. Weingart (Abby); six great-great-grandchildren, Dylan Kovach, Devan Kovach, Logan Chilson, Wade Chilson and Ryder Weingart; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are two grandchildren, Joy L. Krosunger and John P. Faddis; grandson-in-law Eric Weingart; brother Ambert Bramwell Brown; three half siblings, Olan Cosgrove, Delores Cosgrove and Gerald Cosgrove; and her stepfather, Patrick Edward Cosgrove.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, with the Rev. Kevin M. Cutright officiating. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, in the chapel in Greene County Memorial Park, 1003 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg.
