Shirley Lee Doumont, 75, of Hickory, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Washington Hospital.

She was born November 18, 1943, in Washington, a daughter of the late John and Millicent Bigler Buxton.

Mrs. Doumont was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School.

She worked as a school van driver for Jake Schneider Contracting for the past 40 years.

Mrs. Doumont was a cancer survivor. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Thursday Morning Tea Toters bowling league, bowling in the USBC Women’s Championship for 29 years and was inducted into the Washington County Bowling Hall of Fame.

She enjoyed baking cookies, shopping and traveling. She was a Steelers enthusiast and loved “Big Ben.” Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On June 26, 1965, she married Dale J. Doumont Sr., who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Sherri (John) McGivern of Hickory, Lori (Butch) Shuman of Washington and Michelle (Mike) Vereb of McDonald; a son, Dale J. (Michelle) Doumont Jr. of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, Christina (J.P.) Molinaro, Melissa (Mike) Zimmerman, Nicholas Shuman, Johnna McGivern, Victoria McGivern, Elizabeth Doumont, Tanner Doumont, Rebecca Shuman, Susan Doumont, Pvt. Austin Rudy, Gwendlyn Doumont, Noah Vereb, Wyatt Vereb and Gunnar Vereb; and four great-grandchildren, Charlie Molinaro, Jameson Molinaro, Bailey Shuman and Waylynn Zimmerman.

Deceased are a grandson, Dillon Doumont; a brother, Jack Buxton; and a sister, Lyde Buxton.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, with the Rev. Sue Petritis officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
