Donald R. Pickens

Donald R. Pickens, 91, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, December 2, 2018, in Donnell House, Concordia Hospice of Washington.

He was born November 5, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of William E. and Ester Amon Pickens.

Mr. Pickens served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked for several years in the glass industry at Hazel Atlas, Duncan Miller and Brockway Glass.

On January 26, 1948, in West Washington United Methodist Church, he married Dorothy L. Wagner, who passed away December 7, 1998.

Surviving are a son, Joseph G. (Amy) Beaumariage of McMurray; three granddaughters, Josie, Tessa and Mia Beaumariage; a nephew, Jason (Jeanne) Beaumariage of Houston; and a great-niece, Joelle Beaumariage.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, George Harris and William and David Pickens.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 6, with the Rev. Jeffery Vanderhoff officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Concordia Hospice of Washington, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
