At its annual fall banquet held recently, the Washington County Cattlemen’s Association awarded scholarships to two Washington County students attending institutions of higher learning. The students are: Taylor Petricca of McDonald, son of Joseph Petricca, a graduate of Fort Cherry High School and a sophomore at California University of Pennsylvania, majoring in computer science; and Rebecca Spencer of Avella, daughter of William and Kimberly Spencer, a graduate of Avella Area High School and a sophomore at the University of Akron, majoring in psychology. Money for these scholarships was raised by auctioning off pies entered in the Apple Pie Contest at Washington County Ag Days held at the Washington County Fairgrounds in March, through donations, and from other events the Cattlemen’s Association sponsors.
