Washington city councilman running for county treasurer’s job
Joe Manning, a veteran of Washington City Council and a two-time candidate for Washington County commissioner, has announced he will be running for the county treasurer’s job in 2019.
Manning, a Democrat, is the director of accounts and finance for Washington and is a managing director for Alpha/Omega Communications in Canonsburg. He is also a member of the boards of the Washington County Planning Commission and the county’s transportation authority. He co-chairs the Whiskey Rebellion Festival that happens in downtown Washington in July.
A retired Washington firefighter, Manning was a county commissioner candidate in the 2007 and 2011 primary elections, but was unsuccessful each time.
The 57-year-old said in a news release, “I’ve dedicated my career to serving the public and I hope to continue that service for all of the people of Washington County.”
