Canton man jailed for allegedly threatening to shoot woman
A Canton Township man was jailed last week after allegedly threatening to shoot his ex-girlfriend in the head.
John Wilson Holmes III, 38, of 166 Caldwell Ave., allegedly had called his ex-girlfriend at her place of employment in Canton Township multiple times Jan. 24, before state police arrived about 11:30 p.m. The woman told police that she and Holmes had recently ended their relationship.
While police were at her workplace, they said Holmes called multiple times and the woman put the phone on speaker. Police said they heard Holmes say to the woman, “I’m going to shoot you in the head.”
The woman “dropped to the floor, crying,” the criminal complaint said. She told police that Holmes does own a rifle.
Police went to Holmes’ residence and charged him with simple assault, terroristic threats and two counts of harassment. Holmes was arraigned Friday morning by District Judge Traci McDonald and jailed on $10,000 bond.
