Canton Township woman charged after server finds note on table asking for help
A Canton Township woman is facing a criminal charge after she allegedly left a note on a restaurant receipt that said, “Help, I’m being held captive.”
South Strabane police said the woman left the note and another, stating “Doc Jones is crazy,” on a receipt on a table inside the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in the Old Mill development. The server allegedly noticed the notes after the couple left, about 9 p.m. Tuesday.
According to a police report, police were able to locate a Doc Kelley Jones on Old National Pike in Canton Township. Township police and state police surrounded the home and knocked on the door.
Police said a woman, Teresa Heyman, eventually answered a back door and told police she had written the note. She told police that she “jokingly” wrote the notes and “didn’t mean to leave them on the table,” according to a police report.
Police asked if they could search the house, and Jones gave them permission. Heyman told police that she and Jones were the only residents. Police said they didn’t find anything suspicious or another woman there being held captive.
They filed a charge against Heyman for false alarms to agencies of public safety.
