Gene Paul Miller

Gene Paul Miller, 90, of Carmichaels, formerly of Sycamore, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019, and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for all eternity.

He was born December 15, 1928, in Carmichaels, a son of the late Paul M. and Thelma Waters-Miller.

He graduated from Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels.

Mr. Miller worked for Texas Eastern Gas Transmission Corporation, until his retirement.

He was a member of Rolling Meadows Church of God in Waynesburg. Gene had a music ministry that he shared with numerous congregations and special events in the area.

A veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Helena.

He was a member of American Legion Post 330, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and Disabled American Veterans Post 123, all in Waynesburg.

Gene had a tremendous love of Boy Scouting and for over 50 years and served as Scoutmaster for several troops. He also served as Commissioner of the General Greene District of Allegheny Trails Council. He attained Scouting’s highest award, The Silver Beaver, for his lifelong commitment to Boy Scouts of America.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Jeanette Lodge No. 750, F&AM.

He was married to Joan C. Miller-Boone, who died September 6, 2011. He later married Shirley Glover Miller, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Samuel L. Miller of Lancaster, N.Y., and two grandchildren, Lindsay and Dylan.

He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Alexander “Rusty” Miller.

Gene loved his Lord, his family and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
