Olga Tarasuk

Olga Tarasuk, a lifelong resident of Dilliner, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019, in Evergreen Personal Care Home, Waynesburg. Born December 28, 1930, in Poland Mines, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Catherine Celuh Tarasuk, and lived her whole life in the house in which she was born.

A 1948 graduate of Mapletown High School, she was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church in Masontown.

Olga’s career was with Gallatin Banking System, and after 33 years, she retired as bank manager of the Point Marion Branch Office. She was very competent in her position, and highly respected in the community. Olga was also active in the Point Marion area, having served in the Chamber of Commerce, and she was instrumental in the founding of the Albert Gallatin Regatta.

The last of her immediate family, she was predeceased by brothers Wassil, Fred, Nick, Leon and John in infancy; and sisters Mary Tarasuk, Anna Nevedale, Sophia Wallace and Helen Pekar.

Surviving are her beloved nieces and nephews, Catherine Chabanik, Nick Pekar, Andrew Wallace, Fred Tarasuk, Anne Doscher and Gloria VanZandt and their families.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of a funeral service, Friday, February 15, in Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, with the Rev. Fr. Stephan Gresh officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.

Panachida Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
