Chartiers-Houston Public Library will celebrate Black History Month with performances of music and literature honoring history and achievements of African Americans. The event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the library, 730 W. Grant St. Scheduled performances include singer Chinique Keyes, a poetry reading by Melanie Davis and a dance performance from Ministry in Motion. An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, 615 E. Beau St., Washington. The menu will include spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, salad, Italian bread, drink and homemade dessert. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children ages 5-12. Children age 4 and younger are free. World Day of Prayer will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at the Christ Lutheran Church on Vine Street in West Newton. Host country for WDP 2019 is Slovenia. The focus is on Jesus’ parable of the Great Dinner with the theme “Come – Everything is Ready.” A lunch lunch will be served after the service.

Presto Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Night at the Races Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will be a buffet at 7 and post time begins at 7:30. The event will include races, pull tabs, door prizes, a 50/50, free refreshments and buffet. Admission is a $20 per person donation. BYOB. Purchase a horse at $25 and receive free admission plus a chance at race purses and $500 in cash prizes. Tickets will be held at the door on race night.
