Teen charged in Washington robbery, assault
A juvenile who had arranged over Snapchat to purchase a gun was left beaten and robbed outside Jollick Manor in Washington last month.
Washington police said the young victim initially reported Jan. 7 that he had been kidnapped from Chartiers Township, brought to Jollick Manor and robbed by three people. He changed his story a week later, telling police that he made up the part about being kidnapped, “out of fear of being arrested for his attempt to purchase a handgun,” the criminal complaint said.
The victim told police that he had reached out to someone he didn’t know on Snapchat, because he had heard he might be able to purchase a gun from him. The victim told police he wanted to purchase a gun for personal protection.
They arranged to meet at 11:30 p.m. at Jollick Manor, but when the victim arrived behind Crumrine Towers, he allegedly was assaulted and robbed by three people, according to the criminal complaint. They allegedly punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground before punching and kicking him repeatedly. Then, they allegedly stole two cellphones, $100, cigarettes and a backpack from him, the complaint said.
Police said the three suspects then walked the victim a short distance from the scene and fled. The victim was able to flag down a motorist, who called 911. Police said the victim’s face and head were injured during the assault.
Upon reviewing video surveillance, police identified one of the attackers as Kendall Brandon Brown, 18, of 141 Frederick Terrace, Fredericktown. Police charged him with robbery and conspiracy and issued a warrant for his arrest.
They said another of the attackers was an Aliquippa juvenile, Zaeshown Kimbrew, whose mother lives in Jollick Manor. Police identified him as a co-defendant but did not say what, if any, charges have been filed against him. Police said they have yet to identify the third alleged attacker.
