Washington man jailed after allegedly beating North Strabane woman
A Washington man was jailed after allegedly beating up his girlfriend and threatening her early Monday morning at her Burkett Lane apartment in North Strabane Township.
Police said Antonio Keywon Jones, 41, of 398 Houston St., had been staying with his girlfriend for the past month and started arguing with her just before 1 a.m. Monday.
According to the criminal complaint, Jones began to choke the woman as she was lying in bed. She told North Strabane Township police that she was unable to breathe and that she nearly lost consciousness. Jones allegedly told her to pass out as he choked her, before throwing her against the wall several times.
The woman told police that at the time, she believed Jones was going to kill her because he took her phone so that she couldn’t call 911. He allegedly told her, “I’ll come back. I’m coming for you,” according to the complaint.
The complaint said he allegedly dragged her around the room, kicked her, struck her with a boot, spit on her and poured a soft drink all over her. When police arrived, they immediately noticed recent injuries to her neck and that a soft drink had been dumped all over her and the kitchen. She was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, police said.
Jones was charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, unlawful restraint and simple assault. He was arraigned later that morning by District Judge Robert Redlinger and jailed on $50,000 bond.
