Pharmacy owned by Peters Township man target of federal, state raid
An Eighty Four pharmacy owned by a Peters Township man has been temporarily closed following a federal and state Medicaid fraud raid Wednesday of one his businesses in Allegheny County.
Another Pharmacy Center Plus location in Peters was operating under limited hours Friday while the FBI and state attorney general’s officer were continuing the investigation.
U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady in Pittsburgh issued a brief statement this week about a court-authorized federal search warrant that was served at 2850 Brownsville Road, South Park, which is the address of another location of the pharmacy.
The company’s website lists the sole owner of the pharmacy as Tim Forester, who acquired the business in 2012. Forester did not return a telephone message left at his home Friday afternoon.
Brady’s spokeswoman, Margaret Philbin, said his office was not commenting further on the case.
He said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Health and Human Service’s office of inspector general, U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s office of criminal investigations and Pennsylvania’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit participated in the raid in South Park.
A woman who was working behind the counter at the Peters location at 4080 Washington Road said no one from the pharmacy was available to comment on the investigation.
A woman who answered the phone at the South Park location declined to comment other than to say that pharmacy was open Friday.
The Eighty Four business is located at 1045 Route 519. The company has a fourth location in Century Square plaza in West Mifflin.
