Tavian Dunn-Martin had a career-high 30 points as Duquesne defeated UMass 80-73 on Saturday.

Dunn-Martin hit 9 of 12 shots, including 7 of 9 from deep. He added six assists.

Michael Hughes had 17 points, nine rebounds and five blocks for Duquesne (10-6 Atlantic 10 Conference, 19-10). Eric Williams Jr. added 12 points and seven rebounds. Marcus Weathers had 10 points for the home team.

Carl Pierre had 15 points for the Minutemen (3-13, 10-19). Rashaan Holloway added 14 points and 13 rebounds. Jonathan Laurent had 13 points and 13 rebounds.

No. 19 Wisconsin 61, Penn State 57: As Brevin Prtizl stepped to the foul line with less than 2 seconds left and the game all but won, the chant rained down from the student section: “MVP! MVP!”

He promptly missed.

It was the only blemish on an otherwise stellar day. Pritzl came off the bench to score 17 points and lead No. 19 Wisconsin past Penn State 61-57.

The junior has long had a reputation as one of the team’s best shooters, but sometimes hesitant to fire. Coming into this game, he was averaging less than 5 points for the Badgers (12-6 Big Ten, 20-9).

But he hit all five of his field goal attempts, including four 3-pointers, and was 3 of 4 from the line. He also scored 14 of his points in the second half as the Badgers climbed out of an early hole.

“He’s one of the best shooters I’ve ever seen,” Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ said. “I tell him all the time. ‘Stop passing the ball. Shoot the ball.'”

Pritzl was also involved in a no-call in the closing seconds that helped deny Penn State (5-13, 12-17) a chance to tie.

Held without a field goal for the final eight minutes, the Nittany Lions still had a chance with 14 seconds left, down 59-57.

Oklahoma 92, West Virginia 80: Jamal Bieniemy was calm when the pressure was on.

The freshman guard scored a season-high 22 points and made 8 of 10 free throws in the closing minutes to help Oklahoma beat West Virginia 92-80.

Oklahoma led by 13 when West Virginia coach Bob Huggins had his team start fouling Bieniemy intentionally, starting with 3:08 remaining. Bieniemy had only attempted 12 free throws all season before Saturday’s game, with six makes. He missed two of his first three before making the next seven.

Huggins said West Virginia had a lot to do with Bieniemy’s overall performance.

“When you throw it to him as much as we threw it to him during a stretch and you don’t get back on defense the way we didn’t get back on defense – which is inexcusable on our part – then you’re going to score,” Huggins said. “Then, we fouled him at the end because he is a 50 percent free-throw shooter on the year, and he made free throws.”

Aaron Calixte also had a season-high 22 points for Oklahoma. He made 8 of 11 shots and 3 of 5 3-pointers.

Kristian Doolittle scored 15 points and Brady Manek added 14 for the Sooners (6-10 Big 12 Conference, 18-11), who have won three of four to strengthen their case for an NCAA Tournament bid. Oklahoma shot a season-high 59 percent from the field.

Jermaine Haley scored a season-high 23 points and Jordan McCabe added 18 for West Virginia (3-13, 11-18), which has lost six of seven.

West Virginia won the first meeting 79-71 on Feb. 2. The Sooners felt they were more prepared for West Virginia’s physical style of play this time around. They held Mountaineers forward Derek Culver to nine points and nine rebounds. He had 13 points and 14 rebounds when they played the first time.
