Teen Advisory Board

Grades 7-12 meet to plan, organize and lead activities that will engage and benefit members of the community. New members welcome. 6-7 p.m. May 6.

Fiction Book Club

Special Saturday edition of Little Picassos

Psst … come into the Frank Sarris Public Library and make Mom a craft at our special Saturday Little Picassos. Paint and take a craft. 11:30-12:30 p.m. May 11.

Concert

Frank Sarris Public Library presents Adam Miller, legendary folksinger, storyteller and autoharp virtuoso performing for all ages 6 p.m. May 15. Admission is free.

Teen Writers’ Club

Are you a student in grades 7-12 who enjoys writing? Whether you enjoy writing fiction, poetry, short stories or more, stop by to meet like-minded teens. We will write, share and support each other through the creative process. 6-7 p.m. May 21.

Teen Club Meeting

Members of Teen Advisory Board, Teen Writers’ Club and Page Turners get together to say goodbye to another school year and hello to summer adventures! 6-7:30p.m. June 3.

Summer Reading

Programs for all ages will run from June 24-August 3:

• Summer Story Time for preschoolers, Mondays and Tuesdays, June 24-July 29,10:30-11:00 a.m.

• Family Nights, Tuesdays June 25-July 30, 6-7 p.m.

• Summer Quest for grades K-4 will be offered Tuesday-Friday the following weeks

• Summer Quest – Tweens in Space for grades 5-8 will be offered the following dates: Mondays, July 8, 15, 22, 29, 1-2 p.m.

Thursdays July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Save the date for our first ever comic convention! This free, all-ages event will celebrate comics, graphic novels, pop culture and some of our favorite fandoms. There will be a teen fan art contest, cosplay, photo area, activities, vendors and more. Stayed tuned for further details! 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sept. 7.

Madcap Mondays

Crafts, games and science are just a few of the possibilities. Registration is required at the children’s circulation desk or by calling 724.745.1308 (option #4). Mondays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. for grades 5-8 and 5:30-6:30 p.m. for grades 2-4.

Mother Goose Story Time

For infants up to 18 months with a caregiver. 10:30-11 a.m. Tuesdays.

Toddler Tales

Finger plays and songs based on simple concepts, repetition and lots of movement. Ages 2-3. 11:15-11:45 a.m. Tuesdays.

Family Night

Stories, crafts and games. New things to explore each week. 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Little Picassos

Every week is a new make and take creation. Ages 2-5. 10:30-11 a.m. Wednesdays.

Story Time

Stories, finger plays and songs based on simple concepts, repetition and lots of movement. Ages 2-3 but siblings are welcome. 11:15-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays and 10:30-11 a.m. Thursdays.

Wiggles and Giggles

Bring your little ones to stretch, sing and dance. Ages 2-5.1:30-2 p.m. Wednesdays and 11:15-11:45 a.m. Thursdays.

More than A Story

Practice kindergarten readiness skills like listening during stories, making predictions and following directions. Ages 5-6. 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Super Science

Kids ages 3-7 and 8-13. Come have fun with Science! Registration is required. Register at the children’s circulation desk or by calling 724.745.1308 (option #4). 5:30-6:15 p.m. Thursdays.

Spanish Story Time

PA DMV Practice Tests

Through the library’s website, visitors can access free tests specifically based on Pennsylvania’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) materials. This website includes multiple car, motorcycle and CDL practice tests, online driver’s manuals and a FAQ section with detailed answers to over 100 DMV related questions.

Playaway Audiobook Collection

Check out our collection of Playaway audiobooks – you can listen anytime, anywhere. These audiobooks are powered by AAA battery so no other device, technology or WiFi connection is needed. The universal audio jack is compatible with headphones (listen while you clean, garden or relax) and auxiliary cords (use an auxiliary cord to listen in the car). Playaway Launchpad Collection

Playaway Launchpad is a pre-loaded tablet designed for a circulation environment. We have Launchpads for children, teens and adults. The Launchpads for children are pre-loaded with high-quality learning apps and are available in many subjects. The teen and adult Launchpads include some instructional apps, brain games and trivia.

Young Explorer Kits

Thanks to Grable Foundation’s generous funding of the Young Library Explorers program, we have a total of 69 kits for infants, toddlers and elementary school (through fourth grade) children. Samples of our themes: shapes, STEM, measurement and dinosaurs. These kits are filled with age-appropriate educational toys and other materials, and available to borrow. Stop by the Adult Circulation desk to borrow a kit.
