Part of Interstate 70 near the northern panhandle of West Virginia was closed temporarily to allow for the evacuation of a patient injured in a crash this morning.

A Washington County 911 supervisor said emergency responders shut down traffic in the eastbound lanes near the six-mile marker near Claysville.

The supervisor said the patient was being flown by helicopter to an area hospital following a single-vehicle accident just before 10 a.m.
