A Greene County woman was pulled from a drainpipe at the closed Hatfield’s Ferry Power Station in Monongahela Township Monday morning.

Trooper Forrest Allison said police are investigating how a 39-year-old woman got stuck in the pipe and how long she was there. Firefighters from Greensboro and Carmichaels were called to the plant just after 10 a.m. They were able to get her out of the pipe before police arrived.

Allison said someone from First Energy was at the plant and heard the woman calling for help. He said the drain system runs from a pond on the property to the Monongahela River.

“She was located at the end closest to the pond,” he said.

He said he wasn’t sure how long she was in there or why she was on the property, but he said police don’t believe she was the victim of a crime.

“No one else was involved as far as we know,” he said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby hospital for unknown injuries.

Allison said she was coherent and able to speak at the scene.
