PITTSBURGH – Francis Mario Tinsley, 36, of Venetia, pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court to possessing and intending to sell more than an ounce of crack cocaine and being a convicted felon who illegally possessed firearms.
Judge Joy Flowers Conti scheduled sentencing for Sept. 23.
A grand jury indicted Tinsley last fall. The firearms charge stems from a guilty plea in Allegheny County Court of possession with intent to deliver cocaine. Carnegie police filed charges after receiving information from a confidential informant in April 1997. He was sentenced later that year to three to six years’ imprisonment and fined $15,000.
The weapons included five 12-gauge shotguns; seven rifles of various calibers made by Remington, Universal Firearms, Winchester, Izhmash model Saiga, Marlin Firearms and Western Arms; and four pistols.
In court documents, U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton said he wants Tinsley to forfeit the firearms.
