Robert P. Smith Jr.
Robert P. “Bob” Smith Jr., 66, of Washington, died Saturday, April 13, 2019, in his home, following a lengthy and courageous battle with melanoma.
He was born November 7, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wis., a son of the late Robert P. and Jane Twinemm Smith.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Pious High School in Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in biology. He then went on to the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy.
Mr. Smith was the owner/operator and pharmacist at Annex Pharmacy Inc. for 22 years, before going to work for the Department of State as a pharmacy inspector, a position he held up until the time of his death.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. Smith was a competitive skeet shooter and belonged to the Washington Sportsmen Association, where he once served as president. He was a regular weekly participant in sporting clay shooting and was an avid water fowl hunter. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
On March 24, 1979, he married Kathleen Haggerty, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Staff Sgt. Patrick M. Smith, 82nd Airborne, U.S. Army, of Fayetteville, N.C., and a brother, Timothy (Maribeth) Smith of Madison, Wis.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington. Burial will be private.
