A couple is facing drug and trespassing charges after a contractor, hired to demolish a building in Carmichaels, found the two sleeping in the building Saturday morning.

Crystal Marie Crawford, 36, of 1012 Toms Run Road, Holbrook, and Brent Thomas O’Connor, 29, of 205 S. Pine St., Carmichaels, allegedly were sleeping in the stand-alone garage at 209 S. Pine St. when the contractor arrived about 7:45 a.m. Police said the building had been condemned and set for demolition that morning. There were no-trespassing signs on the building, police said.

O’Connor allegedly told police that he and Crawford had injected crystal methamphetamine just before police arrived. He also allegedly told them that he lived next door, but his mother didn’t like his girlfriend, Crawford. So, they stayed in the next-door garage “in order to be together,” the criminal complaint said.

Police said they found a smoking device and a container with marijuana residue on O’Connor’s person. They allegedly found a container with suspected THC wax in Crawford’s pocket. Police said they both had warrants for their arrest.

They were each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass and public drunkenness. Crawford was additionally charged with giving a false identification to law enforcement, since she allegedly gave them a fake name at first.

O’Connor posted a $2,500 bond and his preliminary hearing was set for June 27. Crawford was in jail awaiting her arraignment, according to court documents.
