This log house, dismantled in 1914 in the 100 block of West Main Street in Monongahela, was where Albert Gallatin delivered a speech that ended the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794.

Monongahela Cemetery was established over 150 years ago. The cemetery is host to veterans, historical figures and an old stone chapel.

Harold Weaver, a musician who taught scores of kids to play guitar in Monongahela, is shown, seated, second from left, in this photo taken in the 1920s. Weaver taught music lessons to more than 18,000 kids. He accomplished that by quietly walking his students through their lessons in the basement of an old apartment building in the city’s downtown, almost until the day he died in 1997.
