Washington County residents can recycle their household chemicals Saturday at Wild Things Park.

The Pennsylvania Resources Council is sponsoring the 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. event at the park, 1 Washington Federal Way. Residents will have to pay a $3 per gallon fee, in cash only, to drop off various hazardous waste materials, such as cleaners, paints, varnishes, batteries, motor oil and pesticides.

Other acceptable materials include aerosol cans, chemistry sets, gasoline, kerosene, propane bottles, pool chemicals and smoke detectors.

According to a news release, a certified contractor will be there to process and sort the hazardous materials to be recycled, incinerated or buried in special landfills.

They will not be accepting bulk waste, commercial or industrial waste, compressed gas cylinders, drugs or medical waste, electronics, appliances, ammunition or explosives, tires, or radioactive materials.
