J.D. Martinez and Andrew Benintendi homered as the Boston Red Sox again hit balls all over and out of Fenway Park, battering the New York Yankees 9-5 Saturday.

The Red Sox have outscored the Yankees 38-13 to win the first three of a four-game set. This was the sixth straight game Boston has scored eight or more runs against the Yankees, the first time in the clubs’ 117-year rivalry.

Benintendi had three hits and scored three times, and Rafael Devers added three hits and scored twice for the Boston.

Gio Urshela went 4 for 4 with a solo homer and RBI single for New York. The Yankees have lost three straight for the first time since June 11-14.

CC Sabathia (5-6) fared only slightly better than the previous six games by a New York starter (with him included Monday), giving up five runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. In his last outing, the 39-year-old was tagged for seven runs in four innings.

Eduardo Rodríguez (13-4) labored through 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs, seven hits, striking out five and walking three.

Seattle 8, Detroit 1: Ryan Court drove in three runs in his first big league start, rookie Austin Nola also had three RBIs and the Seattle Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers, 8-1.

The Mariners have their longest winning streak since April. The Tigers lost their fifth in a row and fell 40 games below .500 – at 30-70, they’ve been held to one or fewer runs 22 times this season.

Toronto 10, Tampa Bay 9: Teoscar Hernandez led off the 12th inning with a home run and the Toronto Blue Jays completed a comeback from a seven-run deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 10-99.

Hernandez connected off Emilio Pagan (2-2) for his second solo homer of the game. Hernandez also went back-to-back with Brandon Drury in the eighth.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning and Drury tied it with a two-out, solo drive as the Blue Jays overcame a 9-2 deficit.

A’s acquire Diekman: The Royals traded left-handed reliever Jake Diekman to the Oakland Athletics for two minor league prospects amid of flurry of moves before Saturday night’s game against Cleveland.

Kansas City also recalled oft-injured pitcher Kyle Zimmer and first baseman Ryan O’Hearn from Triple-A Omaha. Struggling first baseman Lucas Duda was designated for assignment.

Diekman is 0-6 with a 4.75 ERA in 48 relief appearances this season, but he has allowed just one run in his last six outings. He isn’t signed beyond this year, making him an obvious trade candidate, and the Athletics snapped him up just days before the trade deadline.

The trade is the second this month between the two clubs. Kansas City shipped veteran right-hander Homer Bailey to the A’s on July 14 for minor league infielder Kevin Merrell.

Twins get Romo: The AL Central-leading Minnesota Twins have acquired veteran reliever Sergio Romo in a trade with Miami, hoping to boost their beleaguered bullpen for the stretch.

The trade was announced Saturday night. The deadline for making deals to have players eligible for the postseason is Wednesday.

The Twins got the 36-year-old Romo, minor league pitcher Chris Vallimont and a player to be named for minor league first baseman Lewin Diaz.

Romo was 2-0 with 17 saves and a 3.58 ERA in 38 games this season. The righty had an 0.61 ERA in his last 15 appearances for the Marlins.

Romo comes with plenty of postseason experience. He has an 0.00 ERA in six World Series games, helping the San Francisco Giants win three championships.

Minnesota’s once-big division lead has been dwindling, and was down to just two games over Cleveland going into the day. The Twins recently made several roster moves with their bullpen, sending down some relievers and calling up others while trying to improve the mix.

National League

L.A. Dodgers 9, Washington 3: Rookie catcher Will Smith homered and drove in six runs, leading Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Washington Nationals, 9-3.

Playing in his 10th major league game, Smith homered in the third inning, hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, doubled home a run in the sixth, and broke the game open in the seventh with a bases-loaded double off the wall in left-center.

Kershaw (9-2) settled in after allowing two first-inning runs, giving up three hits while striking out nine with three walks through the sixth.

Yan Gomes homered for Washington, which has lost three straight for first time since a five-game skid May 19-23.

Arizona 9, Miami 2: Nick Ahmed hit a grand slam and an RBI double, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 9-2 win over the Miami Marlins.

Ahmed’s homer off starter Jordan Yamamoto highlighted a six-run fourth inning. Eduardo Escobar drove in a run with a single and David Peralta had an RBI groundout.

Alex Young (4-0) allowed two runs and eight hits in six-plus innings. The rookie left-hander struck out two, walked one and has won three of his four decisions on the road.

Yamamoto (4-2) retired the first nine Arizona batters before walking Jarrod Dyson and Ketel Marte to start the fourth. He also walked Jake Lamb and hit Christian Walker in the inning.
