Four people were injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash on Route 88 in Speers that resulted in one of the vehicles rolling down a steep embankment and coming to rest beside a Norfolk Southern railroad track.

Emergency workers at the scene said three people needed to be extricated from the sport utility vehicle, including two children.

All of the injured, whose identities were not immediately known, were taken to Mon Valley Hospital following the noon crash near the Route 88, Interstate 70 interchange.
