John A. Nardis

John A. Nardis, 69, of Mather, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

He was born July 14, 1951, in Waynesburg, a son of the late John P. and Helen B. Yurick Nardis.

John was a 1970 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

John was a retired coal miner, having worked for 20 years at Gateway Coal Company and he then for 20 years at Joy Mining Equipment Company.

He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson, and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

On May 27, 1977, he married Sylvia Biscan, who survives.

Also surviving are two brothers, Donald “Two Punch” Nardis of Jefferson and Ronald (Kay) Nardis of Washington; and a cousin, Ben (Shawna) Catalano.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of a memorial service with Fr. J. Francis Frazer officiating, Saturday, October 3, in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor.
