More charges out of Canonsburg for Three Rivers Decks owner
More charges were filed out of Canonsburg Wednesday against Matthew Walker, the owner of Three Rivers Decks and Porches.
Walker, 29, of McDonald, allegedly received more than $10,000 to build a deck for a borough resident last year. According to the criminal complaint, Walker cashed the checks, but never finished the deck.
Police said Rose Avenue resident Stanley Bobro reached out to them last month about Three Rivers Decks. Bobro said he signed a contract with Walker in May 2019 for a vinyl deck, but crews didn’t begin construction until that September. Bobro told police they showed up at his residence only twice.
“Bobro advised that Walker and his crew framed the deck and cut out concrete for the posts but nothing else,” police wrote in the affidavit.
Bobro told police that he tried to contact Walker in October and again in April because the wood was exposed to weather and nails and siding were coming apart. Police said that as of Aug. 30, the deck frame was up, but the wood was “weathered,” siding was missing and post holes were unsealed.
Police charged Walker with deceptive business practices, theft, false statement to induce home improvement services, and receiving advance payment for services not performed.
Walker is facing numerous similar charges in municipalities including Cecil, North Strabane, North Franklin, and Peters townships along with multiple cases filed in Allegheny County.
