Road to ruin

After reading Harry Sabatasse’s letter about road conditions in Pennsylvania, which appeared in the June 23 edition of the Observer-Reporter, I wanted to share the reasons I have been given in Robinson Township as to why my road and others are not being repaired.

1. There is no money. Yet our current supervisors brag about how much money the township has under their leadership.

2. The supervisors tell us they are hopeful that the gas companies will repair the road after they are done using it. What should I do in the meantime?

3. According to some road workers, they have told me that the water company’s future plans may interfere with what they repair now. Again, what should I do in the meantime?

4. My personal favorite reason: If my road were repaired, then I would have to put up with cars speeding on it.

So my road will continue to be multi-surfaced, potholed or a long speed bump for those who dare travel the length of it.

Too bad I can’t drive my car on the Montour Trail or any other bike path. They seem to get a lot of attention.
