State police are seeking information on the driver of a white Dodge van who twice attempted to lure a child into his vehicle Monday afternoon in Bobtown.

Police said the man, about 50 years old with salt-and-pepper hair, glasses and a grey baseball cap, asked one child to get into his vehicle to show him an address. In the second incident, the driver asked the child if he needed a ride.

The incidents occurred on Main Street in the area of Duff Street about 4 p.m. The van had no markings.

The incident is similar to those reported in March and April in Fayette County, both in the Albert Gallatin School District. The district was placed into lockdown mode in April after state police alerted it of a man attempting to lure a 4-year-old boy away from his residence. The boy’s residence was in the vicinity of A. L. Wilson Elementary School, about 12 miles from the Carmichaels Area and Bobtown Elementary schools in Greene County.

A description given to police by the mother of the 4 year old described the man as tall, in his 50s and driving a white utility-type van.

The boy said the man told him he had a big basement with lots of toys and he wanted him to come and play with him.
