Mary Kathryn McDonald
Mary Kathryn “Kay” McDonald, 95, of Washington, passed away peacefully, in her home, Sunday afternoon, August 15, 2021.
She was born June 28, 1926, in Garrett, to the late Clyde William and Mary Haer Grove.
In 1945, she graduated from the Franklin School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, and worked as a practical nurse until her marriage to Wayne E McDonald in 1948. He was her loving and devoted husband for 70 years until his passing in July 2019.
On September 9, her precious daughter, faithful caregiver and best friend, Joyce Streator, joined her in Heaven. Deceased also are five beloved sisters; three brothers; and son-in-law, David Streator.
Mary Kay will especially be remembered as a wonderful, giving and kind daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and treasured friend to many.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Larson (Arley) of Maryville, Mo.; a son, David McDonald (Janice) of Canonsburg; six grandsons, Wyatt and Wayne Streator of Washington, Jude Hays of Pittsburgh, Lucas Larson of Prarie Village Kans., Aaron McDonald of Canonsburg, and Jason McDonald; three great-granddaughters, Alexandra Streator of Washington, Ivy Fox-Hays of Lincoln Nebr., Gwena McDonald of Canonsburg; and great-grandson, Julien Larson of Prarie Village Kans.; three step great-grandchildren; a great-great step-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Alsko and Gayle Segedi.
Mary Kay was honored at a private graveside ceremony attended by family, with the Rev. Robert Grewe officiating.
She was a member of The First Lutheran Church all her adult life, and memorial contributions may be directed there at 92 West Walnut Street, Washington.
