Joanne Staley, 75, of Coal Center, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, in Mon Valley Hospital.
She was born September 28, 1946, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Clifford and Beatrice Shaffer Shook.
Mrs. Staley was a 1964 graduate of Beth-Center High School.
On August 28, 1963, she married Robert Staley, who survives.
Joanne was a dedicated member of her community. She served as a Pennsylvania State Constable for more than 20 years, and as Mayor of Coal Center Borough since 2006. She had also been a member of the California Young Men’s Club for many years. She worked in various positions to better her community including the Area Agency on Aging and Career Link.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Edward (Jackie) Staley of Charleroi; two grandchildren, Christopher Staley and Crystal Piper; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Robert Staley Jr.; a brother, Clifford Shook; and a sister, Mary Ewing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Young Men’s Club, 1140 Edward Street, California, from 5 to 7 p.m., the time of the service, Thursday, December 2, with the Rev. Kevin Anderson officiating.
