Jaynie Ann Smith
Jaynie Ann Smith, 75, of Washington, passed away peacefully, holding her son’s hand, Saturday, September 3, 2022, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
She was born June 7, 1947, in Washington, a daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie Muhleman Schneck.
Jaynie was a graduate of Washington High School.
She worked in the lab at Washington Hospital for over 48 years before her retirement. She also taught ice skating at the Washington Park Rink for thirty years. She was working at the Caring Mission until her death.
In her free time, Jaynie enjoyed ice skating, bingo, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Keystone Club and the Edwin Scott Linton Post #175, Auxiliary, of the American Legion.
On September 5, 1970, she married the love of her life, Ronald L. Smith, who passed away in 1992.
Surviving are a son, Chad Scott (Kristen) Smith, of Amity; two siblings; a grandson, Wayne “Bub” Cimino; a best friend of forty years, Kathy Galderise; and several loving cousins.
Friends will be received 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Ave., Washington, Douglas M. Jones, supervisor, Dr. Lawrence K. Donovan, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 9, with Pastor George E. Eberhart officiating. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
